Those Olympic posters: some alternatives

alternative 2012 Olympic posters

Two weeks ago we wrote a blog post about the new Olympic posters designed by British artists – you can read the original post here. We’ve just seen these posters designed by third year students from Kingston University’s graphic design and photography courses and we thought it might be nice to compare the two!

A couple of weeks ago, following the release of the 2012 Olympics artists posters, course director Rebecca Wright asked the students if they would like to respond to the same briefy given the artists. They were asked for a personal response to the idea of the London Olympics and the intersection between art and sport. These are our two favourite pieces. Click through the link to see more!

London 2012 Olympic posters

London 2012 Olympic posters

A host of British artists have designed posters to celebrate the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The posters were unveiled at Tate Britain in London along with the programme for the London 2012 Festival and we decided to show you our two favourites from Sarah Morris and Tracy Emin.

All of the images will go on show in a free exhibition as part of the London 2012 Festival next summer. We can’t wait to see them in person! If you head over to the London 2012 shop you can also buy posters for £7 each. Not a bad price!

Modern Art Oxford

Modern Art Oxford is beginning its 50th birthday celebrations early (it is 50 in 2015), with a website containing a collection of 50 posters from its exhibition archive, chosen by artists Simon & Tom Bloor. The posters are displayed online at mao5050.com. Accompanying each poster on the site is information about the exhibition it was for, and why the Bloors have picked it for their collection.

These two were our favourites, why not have a look through the website and see which you like best!
